We are an arts & entertainment nonprofit focused on creating professional live experiences that combine performance, imagination and place. Our ambition is to present exceptional artists and compelling stories from here and beyond, in traditional venues and in places no one imagined as stages.

Through these experiences, we are building an audience for live performance, creating a stronger sense of place and giving people from across Toronto new reasons to discover Weston. And one day soon we will give that work a permanent home on South Station Street.

The Stubborn Belief
South Station Live was born from a simple, stubborn belief:
Our community deserves beautiful things.
It deserves memorable nights out. Exceptional artists. Great stories. Surprising experiences. And opportunities to encounter performances that might otherwise require travelling downtown to find. Some of those stories will come from York-South Weston. Others will come from across Toronto, Canada and beyond — stories that entertain us, challenge us, make us laugh, make us think, and introduce us to experiences and perspectives we haven't encountered before.
Because a great stage doesn't only tell us who we are. It opens a window onto a much bigger world.
Listening to the Community
For the past few years, we have listened.

To residents in townhouses, towers and family homes. To artists. To young people. To community leaders. To people who love York-South Weston and believe there is still much more it can become. What we heard was a desire not simply for more programming, but for experiences that feel special.

Experiences worth leaving the house for.
Experiences people talk about the next morning.
Experiences that make residents proud of where they live — and give people from elsewhere a reason to come here.

That is the audience South Station Live is beginning to build. And with every performance, we are learning more about what that audience can become.
We’re not waiting
Our permanent home on South Station Street remains an aspiration. But South Station Live doesn't need to wait for a building to start demonstrating what is possible. We're already doing it.

We're turning familiar places into unexpected stages and bringing exceptional live performance directly into the community. Twilight in the Bandshell transforms Little Avenue Memorial Park into a candlelit wonderland. The Rosemount Café becomes an intimate stage.
And Bethel Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ plays host to a story of redemption and family bonds.Â

These are only the beginning. Each production tests an idea, builds an audience and demonstrates something important: Our neighbourhood can be a destination for arts and entertainment.

People can come for a performance, have dinner or a drink, walk through the neighbourhood and explore local businesses. That's how culture begins to contribute not only to community life, but to the economic life of a neighbourhood.

We're not waiting for the Theatre to build South Station Live. We're building South Station Live now — one audience member, one performance and one unexpected place at a time.
